Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American artist and actress whose versatility earned her praise in various categories ranging from period dramas to action and thriller. Johansson, the daughter of the film producer as well as an architect, was born on the streets of New York City. She was the twin sister of Hunter and her were the youngest siblings. By the age of seven, she was making auditions for commercials on television. In order to improve her talents, she enrolled in an acting class at Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in Manhattan and then she attended the Professional Children's School. Her debut came as a film actress in North (1994) at the age of nine. At eight, she was a part of Ethan Hawke on Off-Broadway in Sophistry. Johansson also appeared as a character in Just Cause, but she became famous through Manny & Lo, a movie about a family of orphans who escape. The film received critical acclaim for her role as a teenager who has suffered a horrific accident on screen in The Horse Whisperer (1998) and she gained further attention in the role of a cynical teenager Rebecca on the set of Ghost World (2001).
