
Jessica Ann Simpson Johnson (born July 10, 1980)[1] is an American singer, actress businesswoman, philanthropist, and entrepreneur. Simpson, who was 17 years old at the time, began her singing career in choirs of the church. She was signed to Columbia Records in 1997. Sweet Kisses (1999), her debut album, sold two million copies in the US market. The lead single "I I Wanna Love You Forever" was a commercial hit. Simpson altered her appearance to make her look more mature for her sophomore studio album Irresistible (2001). The album's title track was her second top 20 single on the Billboard Hot 100. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) had certified the album as gold. This Skin (2003) was her third studio album. It was a huge success, selling three million copies in America. In her previous professional career, Simpson became known for her relationship with and later wedding to Nick Lachey and Nick Lachey, with whom she was also a part of the MTV reality show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica between 2003 between 2003 and 2005. Following the release of her first Christmas album ReJoyce: The Christmas Album (2004), which was certified gold, Simpson made her film debut as Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard (2005). She also composed the cover version of "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" to be used in the film's soundtrack. The year 2006 saw the release of her fifth studio album A Public Affair. She also appeared in the romantic comedy film Employee of the Month. After the release of her sixth studio album Do You Know (2008), Simpson moved into the genre of country. Simpson began The Jessica Simpson Collection in 2005. It was a fashion-focused collection with 34 product categories. The brand is the most profitable ever licensed by a celebrity, with over $1 billion in revenues to the date. In 2010, she was a star in the reality series The Price of Beauty. She also judged fashion shows for Fashion Star's two seasons, which ran from 2012 and 2013. Simpson is married Eric Johnson and has three children.
